Peter Price is the former Bishop of Bath and Wells. He has been chair of the International  peace building and conflict resolution organisation ‘Conciliation Resources ‘for the past 5 years. Peter’s interest and involvement in peace building began in Northern Ireland in the last 1960’s.  Through his interest in theologies of liberation he has travelled widely in Latin American and South America in the 1980’s particularly focussing on the so called ‘Dirty Wars’ in Nicaragua and El Salvador.  During his career, he was the Secretary of  the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel (USPG) during the 1990’s visiting Africa, Indian sub continent, Asia and the Middle East.   He was a member of a delegation in 1999 looking at the impact of sanctions on the people of Iraq.   Peter’s latest book is ‘Things that make for Peace – a Christian Peacemaker in a World of War’.

At the end of his Talk, there will be the opportunity to ask questions and to purchase a signed copy of his latest book.

There will be no charge for this evening and visitors will be asked to contribute to the Burns Price Foundation which makes grants to young people between the ages of 11 and 18 who want to make a difference in the world.

This Saturday, 25th November from 10am until 2pm there is a Christmas Fair, in aid of St James' church in the Town Hall. There will be a range of produce and gifts to buy, as well as a prize draw and tombola, with hot snacks, tea and coffee available too!

Kevin Martin was ordained at St Peter's Church last week, by Bishop Nicholas and joins us as curate.  Team Rector the Revd Helen Dawes has these words of thanks following the service: "An enormous THANK YOU to everyone who made Kevin's ordination such a joyous celebration! Thank you to the bishop's chaplain and office team for arranging the service and producing the service books, thank you to our musicians and choir, to the flower arrangers, bell ringers, church cleaners and to everyone who brought or served food at the party and to those who washed up afterwards. Thank you to Bishop Nick for leading us in glorious worship and to the Ven Vanessa Herrick for inspiring us with her words. Finally, thank you to everyone I'll realise I should have mentioned...Now we continue with the work of the Church, and for that, thanks be to God!"
