Pilgrim Service: You pays your money …

Sunday 9th April 2017

St James’ Church, Shaftesbury

Pilgrim has arrived at a parting of many ways, each leading to a different destination. Some lead off in a well-travelled straight line to places like Elysium, or New Jerusalem, or The Promised Land, while others may be more serpentine and more track-like to other locations named Shangri-La, or Heaven, or even My House. A few tracks – just discernible by the down-trodden grass and weeds - lead to Much Seekin, Little Wandrin, Dunroamin, or even Erehwon. And an unsigned, rock-strewn and twisty one leads off towards the rays of the setting sun.

The theme this week is “You pays your money … !” The choice of the way we take throughout our life – and its effect on us - is ours.

So Pilgrim is now confronted by a circus-style Barker, complete with top hat and a handful of tickets – all of different prices – advertising a Trip to each of the Destinations. But the prices for the Trips vary from ‘still in comfort zone’, through ‘slight pain’, discomfort and unsettling’, to ‘major upheaval’, or even ‘ultimate sacrifice’. What choice will we make?!

Do come and join us for the trip and enjoy fellowship and sustenance afterwards!
