Weddings, Christenings and Funerals

Weddings

Churches are special places and there are some things about a church wedding that you just can’t get anywhere else. A church is so much more than simply a great venue for your wedding, we can ensure that unique and special things become part of your marriage both on the day itself and beyond.

Our Vicars have a distinct role to play in your wedding. They can blend timeless tradition and modern experience to reflect your story, so your wedding will be made personal and memorable, meaningful and beautiful.

Cost:  In 2018, the basic cost of a wedding is around £550.00 whether your wedding is large or small. This includes the cost of the vicar, the church, calling your banns, the certificate and all administration. Add-ons can include Bells, Organist, Choir and flowers. Some of our churches can even offer space for your Reception as well !

Can I get married in a church? – “Yes” if one of you live in our area or have a connection. To find out more just chat to one of our Vicars or contact the central office. Get in touch to secure your date and find out how we can help you make your day ‘The Perfect Day’.

Christenings

A Church Christening is a great way to make the start of a child’s life significant. Anyone can get in touch with us to find about having their child christened. During the christening service your child will be baptized with water. It’s the start of an amazing journey of faith for your child and a special day for all your friends and family.

Godparents are really special. They are not just special on the day but special for a child’s life, even when they are grown-up themselves. It’s a life-long commitment which will involve special times and treats, but much more as well.

It can seem that there is a lot to organise for a christening, but remember the important thing is that you and your family are there on the day to see your child baptized at their christening. We can help you plan  to make that day memorable and significant

But most of all enjoy the party – a key part of the day is being with family and friends.

Cost:  There is no cost to anyone bringing their child to be christened.

Funerals

We’ll always be here to help you wherever you choose to have a funeral. A Church of England funeral allows you to give thanks for the unique person you knew and loved in a way that gives comfort and hope. A Church of England funeral doesn’t have to be in a church, we can lead the whole funeral service in a different place, or, a church service can be built into a part of the day, wherever the funeral takes place.

Remember you don’t have to be religious or a churchgoer to have a Church of England funeral – it is open to all. Music can be traditional including hymns or any music that reflects the character or interest of the person who has died. Readings or poems again reflect the person or how you felt about them.

Whatever your beliefs, hearing God’s promises that death is not the end can bring a sense of hope and comfort, even at this difficult time. We are here to meet your needs and help guide you.

Cost:  Service only - £190.00  Plus Funeral Director’s fees.

After service Receptions can be held in some of our churches.
