Melbury Pets come out in force!
The weather was kind enough to allow us to celebrate our Pet Service outside at St Thomas', Melbury Abbas on 9th June. Revd Jeremy Mais individually blessed all the pets comprising 9 dogs and 3 horses. We were given a talk by Tony Bates from the Dorset Wildlife Trust who runs their Living Churchyard project. There was also a timely and rare visit from Europe of a Hummingbird Hawk-Moth collecting nectar from our altar flowers!

Centenary Chestnut Tree Planted
Following the Remembrance service at St Thomas' Church, Melbury Abbas, Revd Simon Chambers planted a chestnut tree to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War One. The tree had been grown from the conker of a tree in Lissenhoek cemetery near Ypres and so its planting, on 11th November 2018, makes a fitting tribute.
